Brilliantly Made grew out of a desire to inspire and inform parents about the remarkable potential of young people. God made every child with unique gifts and for a purpose. Yet too many children today are distracted from their calling. From formal practices in schools to influences from the media, children are inundated with mixed messages about who they should be and what they should think and feel. As we realize that every child is brilliantly made, we can go about parenting and teaching with intentionality so that we honor the strengths of our children.

Our children are growing up in a culture where they are inundated with negativity. Instead of celebrating what makes children unique, schools inadvertently push children to fit in so that they don’t stand out. The high stakes testing culture prevalent in schools today has the potential to stomp out individuality and encourage conformity. A common core curriculum that students have to learn regardless of their interests or talents reinforces this type of thinking. Brilliantly Made is a resource for parents and teachers who believe all children have unique gifts and that we should celebrate and honor those gifts .

The Brilliantly Made authors are parents and educators. Their children range in age from toddlers to teenagers. They all work together in an independent, Christian school in upstate South Carolina. Prior to teaching and administration they have experience in the fields of journalism and children’s ministry.
